Juniors & Seniors: A grade of B- or better in AP Microeconomics OR A grade of B or better in Economics Honors OR a grade of A or better in Economics + Teacher Recommendation. Juniors (For students who have not taken Economics/Economics Honors): A grade of A or better in Western Anthropology/Western Anthropology Honors + 90% on AP Micro/Macro entrance test + Teacher Recommendation

This course introduces students to the principles that apply to an economic system as a whole. The course places particular emphasis on the study of national income and price-level determination. It also develops students’ familiarity with economic performance measures, the financial sector, stabilization policies, economic growth, and international economics. Students learn to use graphs, charts, and data to analyze, describe, and explain economic concepts. As a result of the increased rigor of this AP course, students are required to demonstrate advanced skills inthinking logically and intuitively while exhibiting evidence of divergent and creative thinking. Topics are covered more in depth in comparison to the regular course and instruction is delivered at the fastest pace. Students should be able to read a college-level textbook and possess basic mathematics and graphing skills.
