ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Expand Growth

The curriculum is about feeding each student’s curiosity for life through early on building every class, grade, extracurricular activity, service opportunity, and leadership role. The aim is two-fold: to bring the world into each classroom and to take students out into the world to experience learning. As such, all students gain the confidence needed to take intellectual risks.

Comprehensive Assessment Level

Focusing on critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and character, the curriculum serves as a catalyst to guide studentsin the acquisition of the 21st-century skills needed to be passionate, productive global citizens. The curriculum is designed to provide a scaffold for skill acquisition and development. Regardless of where a student may start in the sequence, they will be quickly assessed and placed in appropriate levels based on their current level. Teachers implement the curriculum in each subject area based on four clearly defined areas – key skills, content, essential questions, and assessment.

English Art and Social Studies

The English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, communication and analytical skills. ELA courses focus on grammar, reading comprehension, writing styles and techniques, textual analysis, and speaking and listening skill mastery, ensuring maximum variety of both texts and types of writing assignment. Virtually all writing is derived from the literature and criticism we read, as well as associated discussions regarding real world relevance and writing/literary techniques. Social studies courses explore with students Ancient History through Modern History, with a focus on social civilization developments throughout time, alongside English language research and data collection procedures. Students learn to read, interpret, analyze, research, reflect on and discuss materials, and collaborate to solve academic and real-world problems.

Mathematics and Science

Mathematics and science curriculum promote problem-solving skills, creativity, and collaboration. In mathematics courses, students not only learn to use quantitative tools such as algebra, calculus, and statistics and apply concepts in accounting, business math, and economics, but also build evidence based reasoning and problem-solving skills. For science, general science, chemistry, biology, and physics are offered as discipline-specific courses, but the curriculum also emphasizes the importance of connecting knowledge from various disciplines and provides students with opportunities to innovate and collaborate in cross-disciplinary contexts.
