In addition to the course content covered in Advanced Algebra Honors, students engage in advanced studies at an accelerated pace in topics leading up to Calculus. After a review of linear equations, inequalities, and systems, students move purposefully into the study of functions. Students discover the nature of graphs and deepen their understanding of polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Scaffolding rigorous content, the course leads students through an advanced study of trigonometric functions, matrices, and vectors. The course concludes with a short study of probability and statistics. As a result of the increased rigor of the Honors course, students are required to demonstrate advanced skills in thinking logically and intuitively while exhibiting evidence of divergentand creative thinking in mathematics.
